Story

Upskills Foundation works with and in the community of Barangay 105, one of the poorest urban communities on the planet that exists on the dumpsites of dockland Manila, The Philippines.

As a school we are partnering with Upskills and are sending a small team of students and staff to work with them for 2 weeks this July. We will do whatever we can to help out but plan to help increase their lifechances by helping children and families improve their English language skills, by helping out with food preparation and distribution, by supporting their education and healthcare programme, and by simply getting alongside these amazing people who have literally nothing but share love and life with simply remarkable generosity and resilience.

We have done various fundraising activities this year to help get ourselves out there. I'm now booked in to run a sponsored half marathon at the Salisbury Race for Men on 16th June. Friends, family, students and colleagues who know me will understand that this will be a pretty major undertaking, as I'm not exactly a world class athlete. So for entertainment value alone, it's got to be worth a couple of quid hasn't it?

Thanks in advance for any support you can give us by sponsoring me. Hopefully we will be able to help Upskills continue to make the difference they do. For more information about the charity please go to upskillsfoundation.org

Come and cheer me along on the run if you're in the Salisbury area on 16th June.
