Story
Many of you will know that Mabel was hit by a car back in August this year. Fearing swelling of the brain and multiple skull fractures, the emergency vet recommended I drive her up to the Royal Vet College in Potters Bar.
The vets at RVC promptly scanned her and established that her skull and jaw had suffered multiple fractures and set about halting the swelling and creating a metal frame to wire her jaw closed. I was able to bring her home two weeks later and feeding her four times a day through a tube in her neck, she soon started to recover. Six weeks later, the metal frame that kept her jaw in place was removed and Mabel was able to eat on her own again. I'm pleased to report that Mabel has made a full recovery and is back out in the garden playing with Gerty. Her whiskers are slowly growing back and she's looking like her cheeky self again.
The RVC is raising money to buy a new CT scanner so they can do more work with small animas such as Mabel. I am so thankful for the way Mabel was looked after by the team at RVC and want to help get them nearer to their goal. The CT scanner enabled the team to identify the fractures and determine the best treatment. I want as many animals as possible to have that same level of diagnostics available to them so if you can contribute anything, Mabel and I would be very grateful. Thank you.
