Story
Malcolm “Mac” Joseph Eyre, age 9 months, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2023, due to complex medical issues. He was born October 23, 2022, in McMaster Children’s Hospital, to John and Becky Eyre. He battled his whole life with multiple rare genetic diseases, and while his family reside in Guelph, ON, he never got the chance to go home. He was adored by many hundreds of hospital staff, as well as a large extended family and friends rooting for him from day one. He was always a generous and huggable size, with the biggest ear-to-ear smile! He had insufficient lung capacity, and always required invasive respiratory support including a tracheostomy - along with many other major and minor surgeries. He loved music, dancing, his soother and most importantly his family. He was incredibly strong and had captivating sparkly blue eyes. He is survived by his parents, John and Becky (Teri) Eyre, his brother Ellis, and a multitude of loving and supportive grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Enormous thanks to Sue Eyre (grandmother), Mary Teri (grandmother), Jayne Eyre (aunt) and Aaron Teri (uncle) for the extra efforts in taking a long and complicated course to learn how to care for Mac’s special medical needs.
