Baby Macy McInnes was diagnosed with Left Heart Syndrome when she was in her mothers womb. Macy's parents were advised very strongly that Macy would not be carried to term, such was the brevity of her condition. This was considerably taxing on Macy's young parents Peter and Amber, who despite the advice of Doctors refused to give up on their baby daughter. Baby Macy was born and Doctors realised that although time was against her and warning that she wouldn't live longer than a fortnight, the decision was made to move her from Glasgow's Yorkhill Hospital to Birmingham Children's Hospital for life saving heart surgery to save her life. The operation was extremely dangerous and with a 20% survival rate, baby Macy continued to fight and came through the seven hour operation. Miracles do happen. Macy is not out of the dark and will be under close monitoring for the next year and then the rest of her life: she will be kept in Birmingham's Children Hospital for the next four months because the risk is too high to move her from England to Scotland. Macy's young parents Peter and Amber are at considerable cost effectively living in Birmingham while their lives and resources and families are in Glasgow.
