    Story

Madagascar ( an Island larger than France and Belgium) in the Indian Ocean, is a least developed country that is not blessed with the same government backed social funding opportunities compared to the UK.

Akany Avoko Faravohitra - "Akany" means centre, "Avoko" is the name of a Madagascar Flower and "Faravohitra" is the suburb of Antananarivo, the capital city of Madagascar. It was founded in 1963 after extensive flooding in Antananarivo. It is a large house sitting high on the hill as a safe haven for Girls (5-18 years) to be cared for and educated. The girls are placed by the judges at the juvenile court for their own safety. The home can accommodate 40 girls. The house has fallen into disrepair over the last few years. Madame Ivelohanta Randrianarimalala is leading the project to re-establish the home for the girls since September 2015.

After all the efforts of Madame Ivelohanta and her team and supporters the home has now been declared open on March 15th 2016 . There is now currently 18 girls that being care for and needs further funds to expand the service to care for 40 girls.

Funds are urgently required for rehabilitation of the home and for the monthly running costs. Donations are very much appreciated.

The FFPM (Federation of Protestant Churches in Madagascar) is in charge of the running of the home, the Ministry of Justice is responsible for protecting human rights and the Ministry of Population cares for the home in its work. Those three institutions are responsible for the supervision of the home.

£30 per month will provide funds necessary all the care, shelter, food and education for one 1 child. We have 40 children.
