On 2nd October 2014 Sue was informed she had Breast cancer, throughout various treatment and 4 surgeries, including a mastectomy; the need for Drain bags and Heart cushions were essential. Throughout treatment Sue donated handmade cushions and drain bags for fellow cancer warriors on the ward, without donations patients cannot receive these much needed items -it relies completely on donations but is essential.
With further time off work for treatment Sue plans to make the cushions and bags from your donations, £3.50 is the cost to make a cushion and drain bag. Any leftover donation money will be given between two well-known cancer charities "Cancer Research" and "Breast cancer now". With each donation, a clothing label reading "Made by Sue, given by ....(your name)........." a message with support groups for the cancer patients will also be attached. (We will aim to post these to show you the finished products made from your donations!)
Both Drain bags and Heart cushions are used by Cancer patients as a means of comfort, support and discretion throughout treatment.
Drain bags are a discreet way of carrying around fluid drains which tend to be in patients 24hours a day for roughly 3 weeks. The bags give comfort to patients and discretion when needed.
Heart pillows are mainly used by Breast cancer patients and give patients pain relief and comfort throughout the day and night, helping them combat the swelling, bruising and discomfort that comes with breast surgery.
In addition to this, any donations of useable cotton material is also appreciated!
