Dear elders, brothers and sisters,
We, representatives of Madina Masjid Wakefield, would like to hold a charity fundraising event, a Half Marathon, to support our community in the rebuild of our local Masjid (Mosque).
The Masjid will improve the facilities provided to the community and lots of work is in progress to help deliver these improvements.
We would like to hold an event that will allow people to not only physically get involved, but also help them in regaining or improving their own fitness and health.
The Half Marathon will involve running 13 Miles, which for some will be an intense experience and something that at first, may be off putting. But please don’t let this scare you. The event will be held in May. Allowing for 6 months of training and preparation.
There will be regular activities that will be held to support the gradual improvement required to be able to complete that journey.
Even if you plan to walk instead of running, completing the course will no doubt be a personal achievement, but any money raised from your efforts will support the Masjid and the community. Upon completion of the course everyone will receive a personal completion certificate, but the greatest reward will be the support of the masjid and the reward we receive toward the afterlife.
We would like to encourage everyone to get involved, the more people the better the success we can achieve.
Not everyone needs to support this by running the marathon. We will also require people to hand out refreshments at checkpoints on the course. Steward to ensure the safety of the runners and various other positions that will ensure everyone has a safe and successful journey.
Our target for this event is £20,000 of which we already have pledges of £1,000. Please talk to friends and family, co-workers and acquaintances, anyone that you feel may sponsor you or want to get involved in the event itself. Let’s try and hit this target to support our local community.
