Story
The time is drawing near for Tracy Haupt and Diana Brushwood to have everything in place for the Christmas lights switch on and Carols on the Green.
There is much to do with the Christmas trees arriving on Monday 28th November and the Christmas light switch on, combined with Carols on the Green, on Friday 1st December.
To put this event on costs approximately £6,500 which may shock many. We have to buy all of the Christmas trees, renew or repair the nativity scenes, employ qualified electricians who sort out the cabling and wire the lights to the trees on the green, plus fix the traders trees into the brackets complete with battery lights. We have annual storage fees for all materials and decorations and also need to cover the purchase of commercial grade lights, to replace and add to the displays and to cover any unforeseen expenses.
Last year, the electricians let Diana and Tracy know that many of the brackets above the shops were rusty and possibly not stable enough to continue to hold the 3ft trees safely. If we don’t change the brackets, they will not be prepared to fit the traders Christmas trees. Diana and Tracy made the decision to replace all the brackets above the shops, arranging for a contractor to fit them and make good the walls
Diana and Tracy hope you’ll be able to support them again this year as the village green looks so magical over the festive period and brings much joy to locals and visitors alike.
Thank you,
Tracy Haupt and Diana Brushwood.
