Mamatoto is a word that combines mum and baby in Swahili. The concept is that they are connected so deeply that the wellbeing of mum impacts the wellbeing of the baby and wellbeing of the baby will impact the mum.
We are passionate about ensuring all women are well informed and cared for throughout pregnancy, labour and in early days of parenthood.
We realise that antenatal education alone will not achieve these aims and so in collaboration with doctors and nurses in Dar es Salaam we have collated a phased action plan for the near future, which includes fundraising for medical equipment, fundraising to employ health care professionals to go into the community, educational events in secondary schools and more!
