This is the story of a loving couple, of a family that has been through more than we all know. Please read this story, relate to it, as cancer has touched more of us in one way or another.

Cheryl and Mark Johnstone have been together for 15 years and married for just over 10, there's been years of fun times, yet some sad too. After marrying in 2006, Mark and Cheryl immediately started try for a baby, but sadly the fun in trying turned into stress and worry. After many IVF attempts and investigations Cheryl and Mark were sadly told that they couldn't have a baby due to Cheryl sadly being menopausal caused by lots of medications during IVF treatments. Sadness and heartbreak soon turned into happiness as Cheryl discovered that she had beaten the odds and become pregnant naturally and gave birth to beautiful Scarlett in 2009. Mark and Cheryl finally had their dream come true! Life was good!

In 2015, Mark discovered a lump under his tongue and like most of us thought nothing of it, until his neck started to swell, after several tests, Mark was told it was Squamous Cell Cancer (mouth cancer). Mark has had all of his glands and nodes removed, as well as the tumour from under his tongue.

In January 2016, Mark started 6 weeks of intensive chemotherapy and radiotherapy, it was tiring and extremely painful but Mark had to keep going for the sake of his Wife and Daughter. In March this year a gland of his right side started to swell, after tests, they came back negative, to everyone's relief. Fast forward to August 2016, the glad started to swell again at an alarming rate, after many tests, the cancer had metasticised and had now spread to Mark's lungs. There is no cure, Mark was told. Mark has been offered another course of chemo which starts on 24th November 16.
