We are trying to raise some funds to assist with veterinary bills for Marley. Marley is an amazing dog and has captured the hearts of many people over his short life so far, here's his story:
Last year Marley developed a fungal infection called Aspergillosis, normally this condition can be treated with a specialist procedure and he was referred to the University of Liverpool Small Animal Teaching Hospital for treatment.
Unfortunately Marley developed an allergic reaction to the treatment and lost all the fur on his face and developed lesions all over his muzzle.
Despite this the staff at the hospital tried different anti fungal medication to try and combat the aspergillous.
On the 26th Jan he returned to the hospital to undergo further treatment, he stayed in the ICU overnight to recover, however in the early hours of Friday the 27th he collapsed and staff were unable to rouse him. He was closely monitored and it was decided that the best course of action was to perform an MRI scan to see what had occurred. This showed that he had developed an abscess inside his skull which was causing pressure and a decision had to be reached quickly on the best course of treatment. Sheryl decided to proceed with surgery to decompress his brain even though there was a chance he may not survive the procedure.
He survived the procedure and then it was a slow day to day process to see if he would recover.
A week after this surgery and almost at the point of having to make a decision as he hadn't made any noticable changes and the neurologists giving a very grave prognosis, Marley opened his eyes and lifted his head.
Since that Friday a week after his brain surgery Marley has made steady improvement to the point where only 2 weeks after surgery he went home to carry on his gruelling process of physio and re training to allow him to walk again.
Unfortunately the road ahead is a long and expensive one and funds are running low despite being insured.
