Weʼve raised £945 to fund a hockey pitch for Marton Furness Hockey Club as the pitch we rent is sadly being removed so we need somewhere for 8 teams to play!

    Story

SAVE HOCKEY IN THE NORTH EAST

Marton Furness Hockey Club are the biggest hockey club in Teesside, with a total of 8 hockey teams. We've been at Marton for 40 years and in the last 5 years we have grown our capacity to now field 3 ladies teams, 5 mens teams as well as developing a junior under 14 group. We accommodate people of all ages and abilities (from age 3 to over 70!)

We have recently been informed that the pitch we have been using is being torn up and replaced with a pitch that is unsuitable to play hockey on and we therefore need somewhere to play our games! Most of the pitches in the area are owned by schools and are already being used by other clubs. We are therefore really struggling to find somewhere to host even half of our teams never mind the whole 8!

We would therefore love to be able to have our own pitch, and continue to grow as a hockey club and continue to develop sport in the local community.

We do a lot of work already with local schools and clubs, with coaching and providing umpires etc but having our own facility will allow us to build more relationships with our local community and schools. We aim to hold back to hockey for men and women as well as start a disability hockey programme in the future.

Our website is www.pitchero.com/clubs/martonfurness if you would like any more information or would like to contact us about how you can help.

With our men's and ladies 1st teams both gaining promotion this season we are growing more than we had ever imagined and we must keep going! Help us achieve our goals and support our community with a modern facility that will be here for years to come!

Feel free to do your own fundraising for this too - sponsored walk/run, bake sale or sit in a bath of beans. Anything you can do will help!

Planning permission is in, funding applications are in progress but we cannot do this without your support! Every little bit helps.

Thank you so much in advance
