In just 12 months Southport Athletic JFC has recruited a massive 162 kids, registered to play for the team across 10 age groups (aged 6 to 17).

Running a football club comes with costs and whilst we try to offset this with subs, sponsorship and kind donations, we want playing for this team to be accessible to all. Any monies raised help to offset some of the costs absorbed by the parents of the players and ensure we’re able to keep this club running!

Below are just a few examples of what things cost and you can imagine how quickly they add up:

Pitch hire per team / per season = Up to £224

Ref fee per game / per team £15

Indoor winter training all teams = circa £900 a month

Affiliation and insurance = £400 per season

Kit per player = £31.50

Rain jacket per player = £21

Bag of balls per team = £81

Match ball per team = £15/£20

Goals = £200-£500 depending on size

Cones/poles/bibs per team = £100

Enough of the costs! Here’s the real challenge…

I’m looking to raise £4,000 to support Southport Athletic JFC, by riding 1km for every kid on the team.162 kids = 162km, all in one day!! About 100km more than I’ve done before!!
