Story
Matt ’Simmo’ Simpson was a man dedicated to his family and sport in East Riding and Hull and kindly gave enormous time to the local community. Matt was a well-known face in the village as a local PE teacher, footballer, cyclist, and dog walker, and was fundamental in establishing South Cave Sporting Club.
In order to honour Matt, we want to create a lasting memory by placing a memorial stone at The Bull Field in South Cave. Ribblesdale was a favourite place of Matt and we have been lucky enough to secure a piece of Ribblesdale stone which will be located at the club. We plan to have an official unveiling of this during a celebration of Matts life, which is scheduled to take place in May 24.
In the meantime, re-locating a 1.5 tonne piece of stone will take a bit of doing and cost so we are appealing to the South Cave community to help raise funds for the transfer and creation of this memorial. Any surplus will then be donated to the 2 chosen charities - MIND and The Cave Rescue Organisation as part of Matt’s legacy.
If you can help, please do, as any contribution is greatly appreciated.
