Story
On 26th October 2024 my sister and I will be taking on the 3 Welsh Peaks Challenge in order to raise money for Moor first school in Biddulph Moor and Royal Stoke Cancer Ward.
The hike consists of walking 17 miles at an ascent if 2334 metres in less than 24 hours. We will scale Snowdon, Cader Idris and Pen y Fan.
As a stage 4 cancer survivor of Burkitts Lymphoma and after enduring a gruelling 4 month hospital stay for intensive chemotherapy, I am forever grateful for the NHS and Royal Stoke for helping me through my recovery and for helping me become who I am today.
I survived and as headteacher at Moor first, I continue to work hard and try not to look back. I want to inspire the youngsters of today to be the best they can be and to be resilient for the journey that is ahead of them.
My school has the best community of parents, pupils, staff and governors who continue to work hard to help our school be the best it can be but still limited budgets make it hard for us to provide our pupils with the resources that really make a big impact. I would hope to purchase an author visit and some comfy library seating or outside storage.
My sister Nicole is my rock and even though my athletisism is still not as strong as it could be…nor as good as hers, I know that she will help me train and push me through to the finish…no matter how many blisters or how inflamed my knee and back become.
I would like to split the funds between Moor First school and Royal Stoke Cancer Ward with a 50/50 split.
Please sponsor us.
Forever thankful
Vicky or Mrs Atherton
