Story

When Murray was born he was very distressed in the womb and came into the world not breathing, within 12hours of life he had a stroke. Therefore he cannot communicate verbally, he is unable to sit independently. The result of this means he now has quadrapegic cerebral palsy, he also suffers from uncontrolled epilepsy and on a normal day can have anything between 10 - 20 seizures a day. When he was born we were given the devastating news that he may have months to live, that his prognosis was very very poor and we should cherish every moment we had.

He is 6 years old now. Murray has spent an incredible amount of time between Glasgow children's hospital and robin house childrens hospice, sometimes feeling like it is more time than he has in his very own home. He has been on a ventilator keeping him alive to help his breathing several times now. Murray has a very weak chest and has had episodes of severe pneumonia where his lungs collapsed. On too many occasions we have been holding on for dear life that he would pull through.

He has a smile that lights up a room and loves nothing more than to laugh at silly noises. He is the most affectionate little boy ever and will happily give cuddles to anyone who will accept them. Murray is very much a home boy and lives nothing more than chilling with his brother and sister and just loves life.

Murray is a full time wheelchair. He requires a bedroom downstairs and wetroom to support him with his personal care. Mum and dad both work full time and have tried really hard to fund his extension to the house to allow for this but as times are difficult this has been really hard.

We would be grateful for any support with giving murray his own space and provide family with peace of mind as at present murray is carried up the stairs which is very dangerous not only because he is a big boy now but he could have seizure or spasm at any time and the risks to both himself and parents is huge when moving around the house.
