Story
My name is Michael Rakotoarivony and I am currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music. I come from Madagascar, a country where Music is an essential part of the culture but where Music Education is not as important; we have no conservatories and higher education institutions of Music.
I was granted a scholarship to study at the Academy in 2014 and this has given me the chance to start my journey to making Music my profession. I come from a middle class family and the possibility of me making music a profession was very slim because Classical Music in Madagascar is not very advanced. R
ealising that many other musicians in Madagascar should also be given this chance I go back to Madagascar every summer to share the best I can to young artists by doing concerts, workshops, Masterclasses and Lessons. In 2015 I had the opportunity to work together with the Deutsche Oper Orchester of Berlin and together we managed to do Masterclasses and concerts.
Inspiring young Musicians to a Musical profession is very important to me; broadening the young young mind to other options than the "standard" pathway to jobs is a mission that I take very seriously.
This year I am planning to go back and do more thalks on the possibilities of studying abroad and moreover try to encourage the possibility of Building a Music Syllabus that will make it easier for young musicians to access Musical knowledge and skills.
