I've raised £300 to Support people who struggle to leave the house to receive the Music at Home Service. The money being raised is in memory of Lorry Boots.

Lorry Boots lived with dementia, supported at home by her daughter, Karyn, and son, Ade. She loved music and Karyn would sing to her, play Elvis and jive along next to her life-size cut-out!
Cat from Music Anywhere CIC only met Lorry once, shortly before her passing, but Karyn spoke of how her mum would have benefited from regular music sessions as it brought her to life. Karyn and Ade kindly made Music Anywhere CIC the organisation they wanted people to donate to, in lieu of flowers at ’Lorry’s Cheerio!’ in December, raising nearly £150, enough for three sessions.
Rachel’s offer to fundraise for Music Anywhere to get more sessions to people in the community was a welcome surprise and she’s planning a 65km (nearly 40 mile) walk through wind, rain and shine! Who knows what May might throw at her!
Through The Music at Home Service (The MHS) we plan to bring music right to people's homes. Our musicians aren't only gifted instrumentally, but are chosen for the rapport they build with the people they support with their music.
Perhaps you or a loved one can't leave the house often, have a condition or accessibility needs? Live music in your lounge might seem a bit odd, but a cuppa and a song can go a long way to improving your day.
The Music at Home Service isn’t easy to get funding for. With so many pressures on services, music is seen as a luxury, but it can be an essential part of keeping someone active, both physically and mentally. It can help in multiple ways, reducing anxiety, providing enrichment and stimulation as well as encouraging movement, even just a toe tap! It connects people together, giving people being cared for at home a different experience, and their carer a fresh perspective.
Having a music session really gave us the courage to connect together again as a family and it gave us the energy us to be able to support each other with more understanding and joy.
Musicians are referenced, police checked, trained and supported to play for vulnerable people. They are chosen for their skills with people, as much as music.
