The right jersey. Proper shorts and socks. Studded boots. A fitted gum shield. Wearing the right kit makes a big difference. But not every player has the kit they need.

Since rugby is a family (a global family) we’re doing what we can to help kids who don’t have access to the kit we do.

There’s a lot of justgiving request out there. We all get them. But this one comes with a story. A rugby story. And it’s one we’re keen to support.

North Dorset Rugby Club is changing its kit provider. So we’re going to buy the old kit from the shop and send it to kids in Botswana. The kids love the game. But they’re playing in t-shirts and flimsy shorts that are instantly torn.

The Botswana RFU is on board. They’ve identified the most disadvantaged clubs and schools, and will distribute the kit to those who need it most.

There’s more.

Since most of us have old kit at home (stuff we no longer wear or our kids have outgrown) you can donate that kit, too. When we’ve raised enough, we’ll bundle the shop kit and the old jerseys, shorts, socks and boots you donate and send the whole lot to Africa.

We need to raise £7,500. It’s an ambitious target. But with your support we’re confident we can raise enough money to support this worthwhile cause.
