Story
Dearest friends and members of our community,
It is with a heavy heart that we let you know that in June 2023 we lost our friend Nettie Lloyd, who lived at Mendip House in Church Hill, at the age of 76. Nettie was a great supporter of our community and was a founding board member of Church Hill Big Local. She could always be found serving the drinks at the community events and helping out wherever she could.
Nettie would help anyone, and she was involved with Redditch Older Peoples Forum, Mendip House Residents Association, Redditch Labour Group, a supporter of the Save the Alex campaign including attending rallies as well as events and groups at St. Andrews Methodist Church.
Before Nettie passed, she was unable to put her affairs in order and so would only be entitled to a Public Health Funeral which would be arranged by the local authority.
Some of you have reached out and asked how you can help. Please note that your kindness and support is much appreciated. We kindly ask you, if you are able, to donate funds towards the funeral service (including flowers, a wake etc) as we hope to give Nettie the send-off she would have wanted and deserves.
We have set up this page but we are also able to receive cash donations which can be given at:
The Way Café at St. Andrews Church on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays between 10am and 1pm.
Alternatively, donations can be given to Krafty Sew ‘n’ Sew Craft Group on Tuesdays between 1pm and 3pm.
Once we have a date for the funeral service, we will let everyone know the details.
Thank you again for supporting us during this time and we hope to see you at the service.
With love,
Alex McGowan - St. Andrew's Methodist Church
Church Hill Big Local. C.I.O
Cllr Bill Hartnett - Ward councillor for Church Hill
