I've chosen this charity as it means a lot to us as our second daughter Sky was born prematurely at 26 weeks. Having children is supposed to be one of the most amazing experiences of your life and I don't think you ever fully appreciate how fortunate you are to have a full term healthy baby. Going into labour three months early is an unfathomable idea but after our experience it's opened my eyes to that whole other world out there.
Seeing your tiny little baby having to fight to breathe, taped up to machines, not being able to hold them is an experience I would never wish upon anyone.

No mother should have to split herself between her two children or be separated from her baby in the way that prematurity requires you to and the whole experience was made all the more easier by the amazing staff at new cross. Had it have not been for them there is no way I could have stayed sane throughout the whole experience. I can never ever fully explain how amazing the nurses were. they treated sky as if she was their own daughter. Not only did they care for her, they cared for us and I won't ever be able to repay what they did for us, for sky and all of the other families and babies but what I can do is help them give these babies the resources they need. Please, every penny counts and I would love to be able to give something back. With the help of family and friends we are organising a charity football match to help raise money for the unit and they'll be cakes/tea/samoseh etc available for a donation.
