    Story

Arc21 continues its plans to construct a monstrosity of a Waste Incinerator on the Boghill Road which will destroy, pollute and detrimentally impact on the community and environment of the Newtownabbey and North Belfast Area for the next 30 years and beyond.

Despite the Environment Minister's decision to reject the planning application for the Hightown Waste Incinerator, Arc21/ Becon continue to progress their plans to build the publically opposed, unneeded and unsustainable project.

NoArc21 representing all of the local community stood adamantly opposed to the proposals once again at the recent PAC appeal by raising all of the concerns such as visual, need, noise, odour, traffic, health and pollution impact.

NoArc21 now require the help of experts and legal professionals to help fight against additional visual and noise matters arising from the PAC appeal. This is where we need your help financially.

We appreciate that our financial aim is extremely high but this is what we know we need to raise to get the appropriate professional experts.

The Arc21/ Becon Incinerator will have a detrimental impact on a huge community across the Newtownabbey and North Belfast area so any donations large or small will help us.

NoArc21 are entirely made up of volunteers from the local community and have fought an ongoing battle since the initial announcement of the Arc21/Becon incinerator project in March 2013. NoArc21 are prepared to fight and oppose Arc21/Becon plans until the plans are dead. NoArc21 have announced it is willing to take this to High Court if required. All funds will be carried over to help pay for legal support.

Need to keep the fight going. If everyone can give a little then we can get there. This is just wrong. Everything about it. It will kill and destroy the local communities and ruin the area.

We have to start somewhere, overwhelming odds against but committement and community spirit over big unnecessary self interested quangos. Get rich quick at community expense.

It's a disgrace this issue has gone on for as long as it has, given the level of opposition from the community.
