I am honoured to have been selected as a Cadet to travel with a small group from the Norfolk Army Cadet force to the Far East to Commemorate and Remember those soldiers who fought in WWII during the Battle of Japan.

The trip is in February 2017 and will mark the 75th Anniversary of this conflict (1942) . Part of this remembrance trip is to study the biggest capitulation in British Military History, along with visits to the death railway, the war graves and to follow the trail of the battles; including the jungle and mangroves where we will be meeting local villagers in order to see and experience the conditions British troops would have faced (although hopefully no hostiles!).

A key part of the visit is the laying of wreaths for those who died in battle. This is an independent trip as the UK forces are not remembering the occasion, but it is special to Norfolk, as the Norfolk Regiment and East Anglian's made up the bulk of the forces involved. I will also be trying to find local (to me) people who had family members involved in the conflict in order to make special dedications to them.

Please help me reach my target so I, and my fellow cadets, can honour the soldiers that have fallen. This is a trip of a lifetime for all of us going and we are all fundraising collectively to achieve our goal. I feel very lucky to have been chosen and proud that I can be part of this special remembrance trip.
