Coming out to a parent as transgender* can such a hard thing for a person to do. The older, the tougher?...I really can't say.

Post puberty hormones may have already started to complicate your gender identity presentation. Relationships will change. Self esteem will fall, and gender dysphoria will affect your mental health.

Some children will transition very young, but they will still face ignorance & prejudice. Parents will be the ones to safeguard them, & ensure that their learning & social environments are conducive to fulfilling their potential.

THERE CAN BE HAPPY ENDINGS as many of us will testify.

We can't kiss them better because they aren't broken.

We may struggle with conflicting, uncomfortable feelings.

THAT'S WHY NPACT NEEDS YOU!

As parents & carers of trans* children we want to support each other, so that we can support our children to be happy, healthy individuals.

We want to:

- inform & signpost families;
- advocate when things get tough;

- create safe places, to work, to learn, to play:
- have family days out where grown-ups can relax, & our children can be themselves;
- safe pubs, clubs, restaurants for adult children;

- to offer talks in schools;
- to make front line services like GP surgeries and hospitals more welcoming for our trans children.

To achieve all this, one step at a time, we need funds.
