We (Grainne McMullan and Andrea Connolly) are heading to Kenya with 50 pupils and staff from OBA and OCA.

For many years now pupils and staff from the Ormiston Bolingbroke and Chadwick academies have been travelling to Kenya on a life changing expedition. They travel to the remote Marich Pass where they are emerged in Kenyan culture and get the opportunity to work in a community which is extremely disadvantaged. The executive principal of both schools has worked with this community for over 20 years and so the cause is very close to his heart, and now close to the hearts of hundreds of others who have visited.

Over the years the pupils have raised thousands of pounds for this community, most of this money has went to working on the local school, providing equipment and resources like uniform which enable children to attend school who previously had not.

For many children the school is their home, and the funds raised by OBA and OCA enabled them to build a girls dormitory last year, which is now called 'the Ormiston block'. This year we are aiming to raise even more money so that we can work on a boys dormitory and other school renovations. We hope to be able to provide equipment and resources for the school that will enhance the children's education and chance of a bright future.

A little really does go a long way, a school uniform for a child in Kenya costs around £5, and having a uniform is the difference between being able to go to school and not going to school. So,we will be holding a number of fundraising events between now and July, but if you want to make a donation here you can do. Literally anything you can donate, big or small, its does go a long way and is massively appreciated.
