This is our dad Graham Young, he is only 58 years old.
He was a dedicated body builder. A carpenter by trade and he loved to socialise and talk to anyone and everyone.
On the 21st July 2016 his whole life changed and our world felt like it was falling apart. He had suffered a major stroke effecting 2/3's of the left side of his brain. Causing him to lose the use of the whole right side of his body and the ability to speak.
Communication can be difficult at times and very frustrating for Dad.
The blood clot which caused the stroke is still in dads’ main artery in his neck and has formed a plug which is too dangerous to remove.
He has also developed a second blood clot in the lung called a PE (Pulmonary Embolism) and DVT in his right leg.
Since we first started funding raising we have be told any progress to be made from now on may only be small changes. We have researched various treatments and we have decided the best treatment for Our Dad would be Stem Cell Therapy which is available overseas in the USA. We have been given a figure of around $22,000 plus travel expenses, some of which the clinic in USA have said they may be able to help with.
We are also raising funds so our dad can still continue with the physio and speech therapy that he still needs. As he is still unable to speak or use the right side of his body.
