Ollie first came to the attention of SOS Romanian Rescues SW in March 2016........Through no fault of his own he found himself needing a home that would love and care for him in the way all dogs deserve.
Ollie arrived in the UK on April 23rd 2016, weighing in at under 8kg. His coat was patchy with evidence of a previous severe flee and mite infestation. He had a bad aroma identified as a yeast infection. His ears were scarred from ear mites and he had wounds to his neck and face probably caused by another dog. With all his front teeth missing he looks a lot older than his estimated 2 years old.
It soon became very apparent that Ollie had other physical disabilities.....his tail is bent in two places, he has what appears to be an old break to one of his ribs, his front legs are splayed apart and his rear legs very week with no muscle tone. His ‘knee’ joints are constantly popping out of their sockets. All of which could either have been caused by ill treatment or a road traffic accident.
Despite his disabilities Ollie settled into his new life and new family :-) Bi-weekly baths took care of his skin, coat and fungal infections. A good diet helped him build up his immune system, and he went from strength to strength!
Only one thing now holds Ollie back from enjoying the life he deserves......his legs.
Ollie needs corrective surgery to re-build his kneecaps to prevent his joints from popping out. Without this operation he is destined for a life without knowing the joy of running free and a life of increased pain as the joints wear, causing arthritis to take hold.
Rebuilding the joints is just the start, he may need his legs/tendons straightened to prevent the problem re-occurring as the joint wears more.
The longer this problem goes unchecked, the less likely of success.

Ollie has battled against all odds to survive this far.
