Story
Over the next few months, some friends and I will embark on various challenges to raise some deserved funds for a family that are fully deserving of our efforts. They have already supported and helped their son Oliver beat Rhabdomyosarcoma - a rare cancer that counts for just 3% of all childrens cancers. Oliver is an inspirational boy who at such a young age has dealt with more than most adults and done so with a smile on his face.
Oliver was diagnosed with Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma (ARMS) in November 2012 at the age of 15 months. Following surgery to remove a tumour and 9 courses of chemotherapy, His parents thought the nightmare was behind them and celebrated his 2nd birthday in style. Less than 7 weeks later, they received the devastating news that the cancer had returned and Olly but again he beat it. At the 3rd attempt he is now facing the biggest fight of his life to get rid of this indiscriminate disease once and for all.

7 years agoShe's coming again tomorrow but has already said it didn't look as bad as she thought so well done Olly, job done! Today's blood results show that his HB has dropped below the threshold for children having radiotherapy so we're waiting a transfusion to start - just my luck as he'll no doubt be bouncing off the walls when I'm trying to fall asleep! 7 years agoQuick update as Olly has finally given in and gone to sleep! He's been in hospital since Tuesday morning for his last dose of topotecan this cycle and then the 48 hour infusion of vincristine. He's been in great spirits, riding around the ward on his drip stand and being his usual cheeky self. He was very brave in radiotherapy this morning as a little girl on the ward went down with him to watch (she's very anxious about having radiotherapy and they thought that watching someone else go through it would make it less scary for her). Just a normal guy that has been touched by this brave little boy and wanted to do anything I can to help.
