Story

💓🦁Our darling LaCie 🦁💓 (message from mummy)

Lacie was a typical 4 year old girl. Loved Elsa, loved dancing & playing with her siblings. She loved the outdoors. She attended school like every other little girl or boy & loved her class mates. She made friendships wherever she went as she was just a sassy little madam with an infectious laugh. (Teamdot can agree)

On 17th Dec 2021 Lacie was diagnosed with a brain tumour. By the time they found the tumour it was a life or death situation so Lacie was prepped for emergency surgery & our whole world broke into a million pieces💔💔

Once surgery was over & we got into see Lacie in intensive care we quickly realised we didnt get the same little girl back. Lacie was left with life changing disabililities. Went from being so independent to being in a wheelchair, being tube fed, visual impairments in both eyes, facial paralysis & unable to hold/co-ordinate her movements due to severe ataxia. Lacie also lost her ability to speak. She was mute 💔A scan after surgery later revealed that the massive tumour they initially cut out was hiding another one underneath. All these growths would be monitored with MRI scans every 3 months!!

Lacie stayed in hospital for 8 months after surgery, undergoing intense rehabilitation. She had to learn everything from scratch - how to eat, how to talk & physio pushed her to regain what she could physically!

We got discharged from hospital 19th August 2022 & Lacie continued her rehabilitation. We were getting back to normality with Lacies new needs when in July 2023 we received the devasting news that her tumours had grown & they couldnt be left any longer. Our baby girl was about to enter chemotherapy.💓

We are still going through chemo with Lacie & she has not had it easy. Shes been hospitalised regularly, had emergency surgery to fix a port that had started to leak😬 The chemo has made her ataxia worse & sent her right back to square one.

Lacie is now needing round the clock care. We have had to leave work as we dont know whats happening from one day to the next. She has lost so many days to being in hospital, Christmas apart from her family, birthdays, wakening up in a hospital. She has been fighting for nearly 3 years now!!!

Teamdot message - Our darling LaCie is beautiful. But dont be fooled from the moment we've met her she has showed us her sassy side. Loves colouring in, playdoh , slime & unicorns!!!!!!!! All she wants more than anything is to have a ‘normal’ childhood with her brothers & sister. We hope with the help from you that we can help Lacies mummy & daddy with the day to day expenses that come from having a child with complex needs. Sometimes daily hospital visits up and down for maybe 3/4 weeks. Electricity, Gas, food & petrol all the things that still have to be paid for regardless of circumstances!

You’ve helped us before so lets do it all again. This ones got the courage of a tiger. #roar
