Story
Hello there!
My name is Choirstaidh McArthur, I am a visual artist based in Glasgow. in the Autumn of 2016 I launched the first edition of PEACHFUZZ, a zine about youth-adult femininity; girlhood to womanhood transition; and our acceptance and rejection of femininity.
PEACHFUZZ: a love letter was a great success, filled with gorgeous drawings, photographs, poetry and more. We had a beautiful launch night where some incredible young, Glasgow-based musician friends inspired us with their talents, between two DJ sets of banging feminist punk and pop music.
The experience of launching this first issue of my first zine was a real dream, but it was expensive. This is why i come to you, the public.
PEACHFUZZ and PEACHCAST will always be inclusive. The only criteria I wish to set is that contributers should have first hand experience of youth femininity. I believe in voices being heard. I believe in internationality. I believe in discourse and education and mostly, i believe that we have a lot to learn from each other. My goal is to give a platform for those who wish to use it, to discuss these topics - as without chances to talk about the pressures, joys, triumphs, despairs, hilarity, confusion, and love that we face due to our multifaceted experiences, we don't fully understand one another, or ourselves.
The natural progression from the zine format into one which can include non-visual artists/writers, is an interview/chat-based podcast which I will begin recording this Summer. Guests will include musicians, artists, business-people, parents, friends, family, and heroes who have something to say, and should be heard.
The funds raised from his justgiving page will go towards:
*printing costs of zines
*recording equipment
*creating more magical events
*payment of musicians/a producer/interviewees
I have no idea how much money this page will raise, but the better funded we are, the further our voices can reach. Thank you for hearing us.
