I've raised £1250 to help Palestinian children at the Children and Youth Centre in Shatila refugee camp, Beirut.

The Children and Youth Centre is a non-governmental organisation located in the centre of the Palestinian refugee camp, Shatila, in Beirut. The aim of the CYC is to provide a safe place for learning and the development of the youths potential. CYC works in compliance with the International Child and Human Rights Convention in cooperation with UNICEF, UNESCO and Save the Children.
At CYC, practical education and empowerment for disadvantaged youth is prioritised. Through innovative teaching methods covering a range of educational needs, as well as a focus on human rights, the objective is to cultivate a generation of resilient and informed individuals ready to positively contribute to their communities and society.
The children of Shatila are 3rd and 4th generation Palestinian refugees and carry a significant historical burden, having grown up amidst conflict and displacement. Many of the family members were born and raised during the last Lebanese civil war, and the Sabra and Shatila Massacre. Their grandparents were ethnically cleansed from Palestine in the Nakba – ‘catastrophe’ – of 1948.
The objective of the CYC is to provide resources and tools to educate the youth and empower them for their continued fight on their journey for their legal right to return home.
Here is a list of some examples of project costs for CYC which we are raising funds for this summer:
- The educational summer activity program, which includes 250 Children
- Laptops for lessons
- Books and other educational resources for the start of the school year
- Solar energy that has remaining costs to pay for its ongoing installation
Thank you. Free Palestine. 🇵🇸
