    Story

    Mission 2017
After two of us completed the 100km trek last year, we have now expanded to ‘a small group’ and this year will be attempting to trek the 3 peaks - no mean feat in itself! PLUS Lake Vyrnwy, all in around 30 hours eek!

Why are we taking part in this crazy adventure?
Because when we look at our friends around us and see what they have endured and continue to do so with a smile on their face: A lot of extra training, pain, up and down moments, no sleep, banter and perseverance is minuscule really.
We are all members of the Pengwern BC, a local voluntary run rowing club that prides its self on being inclusive - but we desperately need to raise funds to make the club more accessible to everyone that would like to use it. Our club not only offers rowing and fitness activities but it also provides a hub for anyone wanting to be part of a fun, friendly and supportive environment.

Where will we use the money raised?
Our biggest issue is the accessibility to our beautiful Tudor building - Built in 1881, unfortunately, without the knowledge of how the people of today would use it.
Its main communal room is located upstairs and houses our rowing machines, bar and the seating area where we all, or some of us, are able to get together.
On a Tuesday morning we offer adaptive rowing for a group of people who have been paralysed. So far we have been able to provide the specialist equipment needed to do this but getting from the outside of the club down to the pontoon is tricky and we need more ramps to make this as easy as possible. We would also like, with your help, to ultimately raise enough money to be able to provide access for all to the communal rooms upstairs. As a club we feel it is so important to take away these needless access issues.

If you can sponsor us we would be so grateful.
Many thanks for your support – It really will make a huge difference to a lot of extremely worthy people.

Today was our last major training day before tackling Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, Snowdon and a quick 11.5 mile trot around Lake Vyrnwy. Beautiful weather today for our recce day going from Wasdale Head up to Scafell Pike, an ascent of about 930m comprising boulder steps pretty much all the way. Thank you to everyone who've donated - we've nearly reached our target with your generosity which is so appreciated and will help keep the feet stepping during 30 hour target over the weekend of 3rd/4th June.

Thank you for all your donations that keep coming in, truly appreciated. Your money is going towards improving access to Pengwern Boat Club for visitors and members like Darren Edwards in our adaptive rowers squad. In 14 days time we will be checking our kit and enjoying the last night of blister free feet. The countdown seems to be gathering pace.

A big thank you to everyone that's donated to the Pengwern Boat Club inclusive access improvement fund: amazing that I'm 60% of the way to my target. The regular walks up local mountains, well hills, or to some people just bumps, are going well. Boots nicely worn in and so far no blisters, also the waterproofs have been put to good use (so much for summer). I haven't perfected the art of the "selfie", especially while holding the Pengwern flag on the top of Criggion Hill- training in progress. Next week the merry group are heading to Scafell
