Peter Shickle was murdered on Sunday 6th November 2016.
This has been a terrible shock to everyone who knew him, particularly for his two daughters Karla and Lauren.
Karla and Lauren have had time off work due to dealing with their grief. Plus they've needed to attend various meetings with the police and authorities. As they're self employed this time off has cost them dearly. Despite, going back to work recently, they've both got behind on their rent and bills.
Many people have offered their condolences and have asked if they can help. It would be a huge weight off the girls’ minds if they knew their rent and bills could be covered at this difficult time.
In addition to their living expenses there are the funeral costs. VR Jennings at Ickleford have been amazing; they have offered their services free of charge and we’ve been overwhelmed by their generosity. There are however, a few other outsourced services which need to be paid for and these come to about £1000.
I can promise you that we as a family are supporting Karla and Lauren as much as we can, both emotionally and financially, however we are not able to cover everything.
Due to the circumstances, we don’t know when the funeral will be, however when it does happen we will not be asking for flowers from anyone. People often suggest donations for a special charity instead; we will not be doing this either. For anyone who wants to support Pete and his family, a small donation to help Karla and Lauren would be greatly appreciated. It doesn’t have to be much – maybe the cost of a pint, but Karla and Lauren could do with this help right now.
Pete would be chuffed to bits if he knew all his friends were rallying around to support his girls. It would also help Karla and Lauren as they must be feeling that life is cruel; we want them to know everyone is looking out for them.
