Story

Back in June, a lovely local lady, Natalie, lost everything in a house fire. Trapped in her home, terrified as the fire took hold, she relied on a team of heroic firefighters to rescue her, along with her cat and gecko. After a few days in hospital, she was thankfully given the all-clear and released. Now homeless, and with all her belongings damaged or destroyed, she is staying in temporary accommodation whilst the insurance company assess her claim. It will be at least 6-12 months before her home will be habitable again. In the meantime, Natalie is having to replace some of the necessities she lost, along with arranging ongoing care for both her cat and gecko. All of which soon mounts up.

Natalie is a fighter. Having survived 2 brain haemorrhages and a stroke some 9 years ago, she isn't one to give up easily. Whilst relying on the use of a wheelchair, she has continued to live life to the full. It took a lot for her to ask for help in the immediate aftermath of the fire: friends and family were incredibly kind. However costs are ongoing, and I can only imagine how difficult life is for her just now. She is a huge music fan, so we thought we would combine that with trying to raise some vital funds for her - something to enable her to put all that has happened to one side, even for just one night, and give her something to smile about again.

And so The Phoenix Aid Gig was born. My son, George, and friends play in a popular local indie rock band, Glass Navy. I am very grateful to say they are giving their time for free to provide the musical entertainment, playing all the covers you like to sing along to, peppered with some great original tracks too.

We would love for you to be part of this special evening. One thing I firmly believe us Brits have in abundance is community spirit - coming together to help each other when needed. Let's make this an evening to remember - for Nat, the cat, and the gecko.

*** Important info ***

Tickets for the gig are £5pp in advance via this site (£7 cash/card on the door).

We have used Just Giving to ticket the event to give people the option to make a little extra donation to the fund if they want to.

All updates on the event will be posted on the Phoenix Gig Facebook Page – please give it a follow to be kept in the loop! We can also answer any questions on that page too.

This is a fully accessible event. There will be a specific area for wheelchair users or those needing a seat. Just let us know your requirements and we will do our very best to accommodate them.
