Weʼve raised £200 to Commission and install an enamel memorial plaque to Phyllis McDowell. Sited along the Old High Street, Folkestone where she often painted.

    Folkestone, United Kingdom
Funded on Friday, 2nd June 2017

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

    Story

Phyllis McDowell meant so much to so many people in Folkestone, particularly amongst the creative community.
In memory of her contribution to the town we would like to commission an enamel plaque of one of her paintings and arrange for it to be permanently installed along the Old High Street.
This is where, as a founder member of the Folkestone Arts Collective, she participated in Open Air Gallery sessions where local artists gathered with easels and musical instruments and created art.
Any contributions from people who would like to remember Phyllis in this way will be very gratefully received.

Thank you so much for all of your generous donations! We are a third of the way there. A little more of the back story to this project: John Sims, a former Chair and friend of FAC came up with the idea of this memorial. John approached me and the FAC to see if we'd like to be involved. However, Phyllis's influence reached far beyond any individual group, which is why this tribute is not from John or me or FAC alone, but everybody who knew her and anybody who would like to walk past a permanently installed artwork of hers and remember her.
