Story
Almost 2 years ago, I rescued Pixie the Pug. She had been used in a puppy farm for her whole life, and was 7 when she came to me. She was in an awful state physically and emotionally, with several untreated infections, much of her fur missing, scars across her back where she had been strapped into a "breeding harness" for much of her life.
I worked relentlessly to get Pixie to health, many vet trips, medications and lots of cuddles later and she made a full recovery. Since the moment my princess walked into my life she has made my world complete. I adore every bone in her body and cannot picture my life before her.
In June 2016, I found a lump on one of her mammary glands. I immediately took her to the vets where she had investigatory procedures, which concluded that she has a very rare and aggressive form of cancer. She was referred to a specialist hospital 2 hours from home for further tests. From that point she has had 2 surgeries, CT scans, ultrasounds etc. And the oncologists are still finding her case difficult as it's such a rare form.
They have advised that chemotherapy is the only option which may prolong her quality of life for a little longer, as there is a 60-80% chance her cancer will spread.
She had her first session of chemo this week, and now has to make the 4 hour round trip once a week for further sessions.
I am NOT ready to give up on my beautiful girl and will do everything in my power to make the end of her cruel and torturous life special and happy for her. I owe her so much, as she has lifted me from a very dark place and brought so much joy to my life.
I cannot bear the thought of not waking up to that squishy little face and her grunts and snorts!
Pixie's vet bills are now up to Ā£6,000+, luckily she's insured but we have reached the limit of her insurance. Chemotherapy costs Ā£250 per session, and she will also be having a further CT and Ultrasound in 4 weeks to see if it's spread, costing Ā£820.
Please help me, she's my family xx
