I've raised £1000 to Help a Colombian asylum-seeking family to their feet - school uniform, warm and waterproof clothing & other essential items.

I'm raising money to help a Colombian family of asylum-seekers get on their feet again after having to flea death threats in their own country. They are not yet receiving the support they are entitled to and have to rely on volunteers such as myself to help. I can give time but do not have the necessary funds. They need money for essentials such as personal hygiene and medicinal items, weather-appropriate clothing, school uniforms, learning materials and essential travel costs.
CAN YOU PLEASE HELP MAKE THESE LOVELY PEOPLE FEEL SAFE AND WANTED?
I befriended a Colombian family of four when they offered themselves as volunteers with Altrincham In Bloom. The father is a vet, mother is a physiotherapist, 11-year-old boy is as bright as a button and 5-year-old girl is a budding artist. They fled Colombia because violent criminals were threatening to kill them if they didn't pay them off. They fled the country but had to leave behind friends, family and their belongings. After three moves, they have a temporary roof over their heads while their asylum case is pending, but may yet be uprooted again. They are not yet receiving the weekly moderate cash allowance they're entitled to and frequently suffer from boredom. Life is not easy for them at all because the parents are not allowed to work and earn themselves. They feel useless and powerless but are spending their time in a constructive manner, self-teaching English and volunteering in our community.
PLEASE NOTE: WE ARE ONLY USING THE CASH RAISED TO BUY WHAT IS NEEDED. WE ARE NOT GIVING CASH TO THE FAMILY.
