I would like to share a small story. During one of my trip to India, i was passing through a town called Bina. Though this town is major railway junction connecting major cities of India. When I looked at a number of kids in the town, i could easy make out that these kids are deprived of quality education. The desire to provide then with quality education led to formation of pride education society.
The society started with idea of having an international level school free for kids but realised soon that this model will make school charity dependent forever and will become socially segregated. Solution to this problem came from British home building where a part of new builds are affordable. The school will follow the same model with fee paying kids help school operate and cross-fund non fee paying kids. This model made more sense as everyone coming out of school will have same level of pride ...
However there was a fundamental flaw in the model. It was dependent on myself doing the initial capital expenditure to get school up to standard. This was realised once my funds to finish school construction dried out.
The school need close to £30,000 to finish the construction. The money would be used to
1) Finish first floor construction i.e. brick and concrete work.
2) Complete plaster and paint work
3) Bore-well for fresh water for kids
4) Repair Approach road
Though to take school to standards we wanted to. The investments are substantially higher but these funds will at-least help school operate and take the first step in building bright future for students....
