The Purfleet Heritage Centre is run entirely by volunteers.

It is housed within the historically important Magazine No.5 of what was from 1760, the Royal Magazine for Gunpowder on the banks of the River Thames.

Thanks to the efforts of the volunteers, the future of this historic building has been secured and transformed into the premier military attraction in the Borough.

This year, the Heritage Centre and the wider local history community is looking for contributions to fund their presence at the annual Orsett Show in September.

We are aiming to raise £1,500 to enable a wider audience to appreciate local history.
