    Story

Queensbury Music Centre Brass Band owns its own premises on Albert Road in Queensbury and is totally self- funding with all those helping to run it (all brass players!) doing so on a voluntary basis. Most of the funds raised by the band through playing at events are used to maintain our premises (the rest goes to buy music, etc) allowing us to continue to play together and encourage new players to be part of our community team and enjoy music like us!

Our band room is in a very poor state of repair with the building not being water tight and damp with very poor kitchen and toilet facilities. We have been raising money over the last couple of years to fund essential building works and last year were able to have central heating installed. Work has started on repairing the roof but we need further funds to finish all the building works in order to make our band room water tight, fit for purpose and a more comfortable space to make music in! Funds raised will go towards the cost of a new roof and improving our toilet and kitchen facilities.

A bit about the Queensbury Music Centre Band....

The Queensbury Music Centre and its brass band was established in 1969 by its founder Mr James Shepherd, and has since then, been promoting brass playing among young people of Queensbury and the surrounding area. Currently under the leadership of musical director, Mrs Eleanor Wood (who has been a playing member since 1970), the band rehearse on a Friday evening and Saturday morning in their own premises located in the heart of Queensbury and the band has maintained a steady flow of new and experienced players (young and old!) over the last 45 years (see www.queensburymusiccentre.co.uk for more information about the band).
The band regularly feature at community events in Queensbury and believe that learning to play a brass instrument provides a musical education as well as an enjoyable hobby.

The Band are busy rehearsing for our next event - we will be playing as part of the Tour de Yorkshire celebrations on 30th April (on 'the Green', Albert Road) when the Tour will be coming through Queensbury. Work has started on the band room but we still need additional funds - please donate!
