Story
As some of you may already know, I am helping to gain support for Ella to make as many memories as possible.
Ella is a gorgeous, bubbly, sociable 18-year-old who has been diagnosed with an incurable and inoperable brain tumour. The type of tumour Ella has is called a diffuse midline glioma (or DIPG). This type of tumour is very aggressive (fast growing) and malignant (cancerous). It is located in the brain stem area of her brain, which is responsible for controlling many of the body's most vital functions, such as
breathing, blood pressure and heart rate.
There’s no easy way to say this, but the prognosis isn’t good. They can only treat her to suppress her pain as there is no cure. She has been given a time scale of a year, maybe less, maybe a bit more. She's currently undergoing intensive radiotherapy for 6 weeks at Nottingham City hospital 5 days a week.
I have been approached by my daughter in law's brother Quinn, who is extremely enthusiastic to help towards the cause, not just for Ella's memories, but to support her family too.
The impact of this diagnosis has a ripple affect that is often forgotten.
Ella's parents have had to put their lives and jobs on hold, to enable her to have continued support, which they have done without hesitation, but which will also have a financial impact.
Quinn has decided he would like to help them by completing a sponsored run 🏃🏼.
Up until recently, you may have seen Ella working in Boston Tesco, always with a smile on her face.
Quinn will be running from Skegness Tesco to Boston Tesco, to raise funds for the family, to help ease the burden and worry, so they can concentrate on Ella's needs.
Anyone wishing to sponsor him can do so by donating to this page.
(Further information and the date of the run will be confirmed when we have finalised logistics.) We shall keep you updated.
