Story

Hello everybody, many thanks for visiting my page. I’m Mathew James Creamer from Conwy, North Wales and I’m undertaking a series of challenges in support and recognition for two great causes which are very close to my heart. I am hoping that you could please support me by donating anything from as little as £1 to my JustGiving page or if easier just message me I can meet you in aid of our local RNLI Lifeboat Station in Conwy where I volunteer and for the premature baby unit at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd. As Tesco says, EVERY LITTLE HELPS…

On the 2nd of April 2020 during the Covid pandemic, my brother Michael and his fiancé Poppy had twin babies, Romeo Evan Creamer weighed at just 1 pound 7 ounces and Grace Mavis Creamer at 1 pound 9 ounces. They were born around 28 weeks premature in Ysbyty Glan Clwyd on the Special Care Baby Unit ward. The team there were fantastic during the whole birth and after care. It was a long 13 weeks in different hospitals before we had them home, however, they are the reason why the twins are still here today. Our family cannot thank them enough. See below/above photos of them in hospital compared to now the difference and how healthy they are now.

Also, in memory of both my Uncle Cochyn, (Gary Hughes) my Mum’s brother and crew, who went missing on the fishing vessel the ‘Katy’ on the 16th January 1994, and on the 27th of January 2021 my good friend Carl Mcgrath and his crew from the fishing boat the ‘Nicola Faith’ who all unfortunately died at sea. The RNLI lifeboat volunteers from multiple stations helped search for them for days on end. The dedication and support from the lifeboat volunteers for both searches were amazing and is a reason why I’m a volunteer crew member myself today at Conwy.

All 3 of these stories and experiences have meant a great deal to me and the reason why I wish to show my support of both the RNLI and Ysbyty Glan Clwyd. To give back and to thank the Lifeboat for their part in the search & rescue efforts, to all the volunteers risking their lives to search for people from our local community and as a thank you to the amazing hospital, doing a fantastic job for my nephew and niece who could possibly not be here today without them.

My upcoming challenges that I’ll be tackling in support of these charities are the Conwy Half Marathon on 19th of November 2023. This 13.1 mile race starts and finishes on Conwy Quay goes around the Great Orme and back.

Plus, in early 2024, I’ll be taking on the world’s highest freestanding mountain, Mt Kilimanjaro, at 5,895 m (19,341 ft) above sea level. It is the highest volcano on the African Continent and in the Eastern Hemisphere. I’m doing this on the 1st of February 2024 on my own (so far…. Anyone is welcome to join me?) I’ll fly to Tanzania, meet my local guide and trek & camp on the slopes of Kilimanjaro over 7 days & nights with the aim of standing on the summit of the ‘Roof of Africa’ on day 5.

I’m hoping to raise £5,000 in total or whatever figure I get to 50% goes to Conwy Lifeboat Station and 50% for the Special Care Baby Unit Ward in Ysbyty Glan Clwyd I will personally purchase items for the ward to make it more comfortable for people visiting and the people giving birth.

I hope you can help support this challenge by donating any amount that you can to my JustGiving page. Many thanks.

My fiancé Alina Feier and my self’s cleaning company, Conwy Cleaning Solutions will pay for the whole trip along with various donations of items given from the list below, so all monies raised is solely for the lifeboat and hospital ward.

On a personal note, I want to thank:

My boss and great friend Daniel Dawson from DD Roofing, Jewsons Llandudno, Gordan Richards in Glan Conwy for giving generous donations, Peter Lucas tool hire who provided me with walking gear, Liam Moorehead from The Car Spa Llandudno for providing me with other essential walking gear and also Sue Blunt for advice on Kilimanjaro from Adventurous Ewe💪
