    Story

Hello, my name is Gavin and I am a serving firefighter in West Yorkshire working from Rastrick Fire Station. Having spent a number of Christmas periods in hospital with my daughter who was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of two, my family and I have seen first-hand the delight that can be brought to a child's face on receiving a gift specifically chosen for them. The smiles shared between child and parent can help to take the pain away, even if it’s just for a moment.
Year on year there’s ill children and their parents watching the festivities from the confines of a hospital room because of the journey they are currently taking. It’s important for me to mention the time and effort the nursing staff put into the Christmas period, they do a brilliant job of making your situation a little more palatable and go well and truly above and beyond the call of duty. We at Rastrick Fire Station would like to help put smiles on the faces of poorly children by raising enough money to go out and buy some brand new age related gifts for those in hospital this Christmas. Please help us achieve this goal by donating whatever you can. We will also be accepting brand new gifts for children aged between birth and 16-years-old which can be dropped off at Rastrick Fire Station (Clough Lane Rastrick, West Yorkshire) from where we will distribute them to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and Calderdale Royal Hospital, or to other disadvantaged children this Christmas.
Please note that any gifts must be unwrapped when delivered to the fire station and must not be left on the doorstep unattended for security reasons.

The target has been reached and the exceeded, fantastic and well done to all whom have donated. Lest not stop though the more we raise the more whom will benefit. After we have visited the first two hospitals we shall just continue making smiles until it's all gone. Well done and thank you
