Story

Reading Ukrainian School is launching a fundraising campaign to support a school visit for our twin school in Zolochiv, Ukraine. Since 2020, we have been twinned with Zolochiv School, regularly holding teleconferences where students exchange cultural experiences and build new friendships. It was our hope that students from Reading Ukrainian School would one day visit Zolochiv to explore Ukraine, the homeland of their parents or grandparents.

Unfortunately, the war has made it unsafe for our children to travel there. Both Reading Ukrainian School and Zolochiv School have taken in many refugee children. Our friends in Zolochiv have endured significant hardships, including the loss of family members, friends, and teachers. Missile strikes and unstable internet connectivity have also disrupted our regular teleconferences.

In response, the teachers and students of Reading Ukrainian School have decided to invite a group of 20 students from displaced families or families with members in the war zone to spend a week in Reading. We are raising funds to make this visit possible and offer a much-needed respite for these children.

Your support can help us bring a bit of normalcy and joy to the lives of these students who have been profoundly affected by the war. Please consider donating to help us make this visit a reality. Thank you for your generosity and support.
