Swindon and Wiltshire Pride, one of the biggest community events held in Swindon and financed solely by fund-raising and sponsorship, all supported by a large team of volunteers is 10 years old this year;

In previous years, as part of the fund-raising activities it has become the tradition to raise much needed funds for the event by raising sponsorship for the 26 mile bicycle ride affectionately known as the Ride For Pride. The route varies each year covering Swindon and the surrounding countryside taking in areas of interest such as Coate Water, Lydiard Park and Stratton. The challenging event is supported by amateur cyclists and marks the start of the final countdown to the main event.

With Swindon and Wiltshire Pride celebrating its 10th anniversary this year everything is getting bigger and better, including the addition of more zones to the traditional ones on the day itself in Old Town Gardens. Ride for Pride is no exception to this and so, this year, the challenge has been increased and the entrants will undertake a 40 mile ride.

Jo Sharpe, Chair of the Pride Committee said “This event represents another milestone for Pride, the ride has been increased from 26 miles to 40 miles. It will allow us to include more of the beautiful Wiltshire countryside and emphasise that our Swindon and Wiltshire Pride is for the whole community.”

One of the participants in this year’s Ride for Pride added “It’s a bit of challenge but it really shows the commitment of the volunteers and the community to put Pride on. I’m really looking forward to the ride”

The Riders from the Committee this year will be: Ben Reeves, Steve Pryor, Daniel Dempsey, Joanna Rocket Roberts and Jo Sharpe. Come along and Join us on Saturday 17th June 2017 - starting from Faringdon Road Park at 10:00am.
