Story
Ruby Story.
Ruby arrived at Pool House Vets out of hours on 05.10.2016. She had been obviously severely neglected and required Emergency Veterinary Treatment. Since then she has been adopted by on e of the nurses working at Pool House Vets who can give her the intensive nursing care she needs.
On Friday last week the decision was made to remove Ruby's left eye as it had been irreparably damaged and there was nothing that could be done to save it. She also needed a graft to try and save her right eye which had a deep ulcer that wasn't healing as we would have liked due to her general lack of immune system and strength.
The surgery went well and ruby was quickly back up on her feet.
Over the weekend we continued to intensively medicate her remaining eye in the hopes that the surgical graft would take and the ulcer would begin to heal.
On Monday, West Midlands Referrals were kind enough to arrange an appointment with their ophthalmologist, Lorna, so that her progress could be assessed. Lorna did a great job with Ruby and was very gentle with her, giving us all hope that her vision can be saved. Ruby has now had a second surgery at West Midlands Referrals due to the complex nature of her condition and is recovering very well.
Despite all that she has been through Ruby remains incredibly loving and although she has a long road ahead of her, its great to see how quickly she is making progress.
We hope to raise the funds to make a donation to West Midlands Referrals and Pool House Vets for their great generosity.
Thank you so much and we will keep you updated with her progress.
