LGBTQ+ Rights in Bulgaria

Did you know that in 2000, Bulgaria was ranked 37 out of 49 European nations in LGBT rights protection by ILGA-Europe? Much like other Central and Eastern European nations, post-Communist Bulgaria tends to have socially conservative views on issues like homosexuality and transgender identities.

Single Step Bulgaria is diligently working to shift these perspectives. Their goal is to uplift, inspire, and empower LGBT+ youth, as well as their families, friends, and allies in Bulgaria. They guide individuals through the journey of understanding, coming out, and embracing their sexual orientation and gender identity. Since 2017, they have been offering both online and in-person safe havens, along with essential legal, psychological, and life-saving guidance.

Search Seven and the S7100 Campaign

I was empowered to join Search Seven in May 2022 because I wanted to contribute to making a positive impact. Our agency commits 7% of our profits to charitable causes, and each team member is encouraged to champion a cause they're passionate about. For me, Single Step embodies that very sentiment.

Last year, thanks to numerous donations from close friends and family, I was able to raise £515 and match funding donation of £250 amounting to a total of £765 for the charity.

As part of the S7100 campaign, collectively as a team we are aiming to hit £100,000 in donations to the various pledges we support. We are also hosting a Charity Ball at the Grand Brighton Hotel on 26th October 2023 when we are aiming to hit the fundraising goal by and collectively celebrate our joined efforts with all charities, clients and partners who helped us on our journey.

Match finding

Search Seven have kindly pledged to match fund the first £150 raised meaning that the donation total would be doubled to £300 if the goal is reached. £300 converts into 683.83 Bulgarian Lev which would go a long way in making a difference just like last year.
