10-years ago, I was diagnosed with an upper motor neuron disorder. My degenerative condition creates challenges for me in various ways, but especially with mobility. I've been fortunate over the years to have resources to fund my first two wheelchairs and to train my own assistance dog who takes care of me.

Since I was 16 years old, I've worked in the construction industry, an industry that builds accessible spaces but is not exactly an accessible place to work.

I recently moved the England to teach the next generation of builders, focused on Sustainable Timber Methods of building. I love working in the built environment and found a way to put my hard-earned experience to use in higher education. My educational work takes students to forestry services, manufacturing facilities, and job sites to see the building process from beginning to end. In a manual wheelchair, some of these visits are impossible to navigate.

I received a partial grant to fund my Omeo Hands-free device so I can continue my work. I am asking for help to raise the balance needed for this equipment. This device will also reduce my dependence on my car as I will be able to travel longer distances in my wheelchair and have greater access to public transportation.
