Story
The Skydive was completed across two dates, 6 volunteers jumped on 17th May and 3 volunteers jumped on 24th May. Thank you to everyone that has supported and donated towards this fundraiser. It's means a lot to such a small rescue!
SEDR celebrated its 14th anniversary last year and on 29th March 2024 reached their 15th anniversary. To celebrate, a group of volunteers, 9 in total, are jumping 12,000ft out of a plane, hoping to raise as much money as possible for SEDR.
The fundraiser was originally set up back in July last year with the Skydive due to take place on 31st August, however after poor weather conditions it's been rescheduled five times. New dates have been booked, but are not being disclosed in the hope that it will go ahead, and we can celebrate after the event has happened - were very frustrated that its been cancelled so many times!
Due to the weather, cancellations and having to wait a few months between dates, we took a break from fundraising. During this break, the original JustGiving page was automatically closed down and any monies raised at this point was transferred. Due to phenominal support, we managed to pay £5,370 off our vet bill!! This new JustGiving page has been set up for anyone wishing to donate, that maybe didn't get a chance to last year - we have no real target as the money raised so far (well over £6k including bank transfer donations) has completely met and exceeded any targets we had in mind!
Kymm, Head of the Rescue, who is terrified of heights is one of the 9 people signed up for the jump - it would be great if you could show your support by donating and/or sharing far and wide!
A bit about SEDR if you didn't already know....
South East Dog Rescue was created by Kymm, rescuing one dog at a time, she now runs a kennel site which can hold 60+ dogs at any one time (not including those under her care in foster homes too). SEDR aims to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home dogs across the UK, operating a non destruction (no kill) policy which means even those that can not be placed in a home environment, live out the rest of their lives at the rescue - a true no kill policy. The rescue is a non-profit organisation and is solely run by volunteers and donations from the public - they receive no government funding. Kymm works day and night, making every dog that comes through her door the priority!
We know times are really tough, but if you are able to sponsor us and donate what you can, it would be greatly appreciated and will mean so much to Kymm and the dogs. If you are unable to donate then we‘d appreciate it if you could share this page, to help us get this post far and wide and raise lots of well needed funds for the dogs.
Lots of thanks from the dogs, Kymm, the volunteers and the future rescue cases at SEDR XxX
