Story

Sam, was studying psychology at university, when the war in Ukraine broke out. He had just turned 21, and without a second thought travelled to the war torn country. He stepped into a war zone. Without fear he embarked on a journey of battle, courage and tenacity. Most people would have crumbled. Not Sam, he undertook mission after mission with the upmost bravery. One of the most selfless acts a human can do. Fighting in a foreign country, for people he had never met, without question and never faltering.

His brothers, Dan, Adam, Josh , dad Paul and i are devastated and heartbroken. However, we are immensely proud. We are in awe of his decision to answer the call and travel to Ukraine, and push back ag Russian imperialism. He gave his life for people he didn’t know. He acted with courage, morality and honour.

He had grown into an exceptional man, a good solider and was one of the bravest people we had known. He did not embark on this journey blindly. He knew the risks and still chose humanity.

We are not the only family who are suffering. There are many others. Most importantly, there are brave men and women, who return home traumatised. Forced to fight another battle, but an internal one. Its a battle nobody else can see, but its one of the hardest any human being will have to face.

Its not just those who choose to fight, that may struggle. Its aid workers, journalists, medical staff, drivers, camera crew. The list is endless.

There are a thousand ways to help and support those in need. Sometimes, those who do help are the ones who need to most after care.

Thank you for taking the time to read.
